Digging Up the Past
So I was thinking about calling up my ex when I head out there next week. She just got back from doing field research in Africa. I’m curious to hear about her experience — so I was thinking that a cup of coffee & a croissant in the morning wouldn’t be out of line.
What do y’all think?
Could be dangerous. Are you sure this impulse to see her wasn’t inspired by being on tilt from the Corday incident? Given the awkward terms on which you guys parted, it’s not clear that she’d be eager to see you.
(Oops, at first I thought you were referring to Corday here. It feels like she’s your “ex” too, by the way things have gone. )
Too bad I don’t know enough about your relationship with this ex to comment. But do heed Beef’s advice and make sure this isn’t an attempt at mean regression.

So I had coffee with her during my few days in the city. She’s still looking good, and still reading Michael Rieff, and still committed to her research in Africa. We had a great one and a half-hour of catch-up in between her classes. Premium hand.
