JetBlue maximization
So I got this JetBlue thing in my e-mail today:
It’s never too early to start planning an exciting, end-of-summer or fall adventure. Book now through June 26 for travel between September 3 and October 31, 2008 and save 10% each way!
Just click here and enter Promotion Code OCTJET2 when you select your flights. Remember, you must click through this email to take advantage of this offer and travel must be completed by October 31, 2008.
So what’s the angle? Is September-October that much more of a slow season compared to July-August? Is JetBlue betting on fuel prices falling by the end of the summer (and therefore encouraging consumers to buy while ticket prices are currently high)? Should I be taking this in as additional data to sell my GSG?
I think it’s just a sale to encourage excursion bookings.
I agree with CashBack. My first guess is that this is a revenue recognition issue; they may benefit more from an accurate forecast on Q3 rev over the 10% discount. They might also benefit more than the 10% discount from more accurate fuel/labor planning.
